Tarjuma, Fawaid, Tahqeeq wa Takhreej: Hafiz Salahuddin Yusuf (حفظه الله)
Baab: TAMAM ZAHIRI AUR BATINI AAMAL, AQWAL AUR AHWAL MEIN IKHLAAS AUR HUSN NIYYAT ZAROORI HAI
Chapter: Al-Ikhlaas and the Derivation of Al-Niyyah In all actions and sayings, apparent and concealed.
وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ حُنَفَاءَ وَيُقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُوا الزَّكَاةَ وَذَٰلِكَ دِينُ الْقَيِّمَةِ
Allah Ta’ala ne farmaya: “Un ko yehi hukum diya gaya tha ke woh ikhlaas ke saath Allah ki ibadat karein, yaksu ho kar aur Namaaz padhein, Zakaat dein aur yehi sachcha Deen hai.”
They were commanded not, but that they should worship Allah and worship none but Him alone, and perform the prayer, and give in alms.

For that is the Correct Religion.

[Surah al-Bayyinah : Ayah 5]
لَن يَنَالَ اللَّهَ لُحُومُهَا وَلَا دِمَاؤُهَا وَلَٰكِن يَنَالُهُ التَّقْوَىٰ مِنكُمْ

Aur farmaya: “Allah ko janwaron ka gosht aur khoon nahin pahunchta, albatta tumhara taqwa us tak pahunchta hai.”
It is neither their flesh nor their blood that reaches Allah, but it is piety from you that reaches Him.

[Surah al-Hajj : Ayah 37]
قُلْ إِن تُخْفُوا مَا فِي صُدُورِكُمْ أَوْ تُبْدُوهُ يَعْلَمْهُ اللَّهُ
Aur farmaya: “Aap صلى الله عليه وسلم keh dijiye, agar tum apne seenon mein koi baat chhupao ya us ko zahir kar do, Allah sab ko janta hai.”
Say (0 Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم): Whether you conceal what is in your hearts or disclose it, Allah is aware of it.

[Surah Ali-‘Imraan : Ayah 29]
وعن أمير المؤمنين أبي حفص عمر بن الخطاب بن نفيل بن عبد العزى بن رياح بن قرط بن رزاح بن عدى بن لؤى ابن غالب القرشى العدوى‏.‏ رضي الله عنه، قال‏:‏ سمعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول‏:‏ ‏ “‏ إنما الأعمال بالنيات، وإنما لكل امرىء ما نوى فمن كانت هجرته إلى الله ورسوله فهجرته إلى الله ورسوله، ومن كانت هجرته لدنيا يصيبها، أو امرأة ينكحها فهجرته إلى ما هاجر إليه‏”‏ ‏(‏‏(‏متفق على صحته‏.‏ رواه إماما المحدثين‏:‏ أبو الحسين مسلم بن الحجاج بن مسلم القشيرى النيسابورى رضي الله عنهما في صحيحهما اللذين هما أصح الكتب المصنفة‏)‏
Ameer al-Mumineen Hazrat Abu Hafs Umar bin al-Khattab bin Nufail bin Abdil Uzza bin Riyah bin Abdullah bin Qurt bin Rajaah bin Adi’ bin Ka’ab bin Lu’iy bin Ghalib bin al-Qurshi al-Adawi رضي الله عنه  se riwayat hai, woh kehte hain, maine Rasool Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم  ko farmate huye suna ke “Amalon ka daromadar niyyaton par hai, har shaks ko us ki (achhi ya buri) niyyat ke mutabiq (achha ya bura) badla milega, pas jiski Hijrat, Allah aur us ke Rasool ke liye hogi, us ki Hijrat unhi ki taraf samjhi jayegi aur jisne duniya hasil karne ke liye ya kisi aurat se nikah ki arz se Hijrat ki toh us ki Hijrat inhi maqsad ke liye hogi”

Is Riwayat ki sihhat muttafaqa hai, isey Imaam al-Muhaddiseen Abu ‘Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ismaa’eel ibn Ibraheem ibn al-Mugheerah ibn Bardazbah al-Ju’fee al-Bukhari رحمه الله aur Imaam al-Muhaddiseen Abu al-Husayn Muslim ibn al-Hajjaaj ibn Muslim al-Qushayree al-Naysaabooree رحمه الله ne apni un do Kitaabon mein riwayat kiya hai jo Hadees ki tamam Musannaf Kitaabon mein sab se zyada Saheeh hain.
It has been related by the Ameer al-Mumlneen Abee Hafs ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ( صلى الله عليه وسلم) say:

Indeed all actions are by intention, and for each individual is that which he intended. So whose migration was for Allah and His Messenger, then his migration was for Allah and His Messenger. And whose migration was for a matter connected to the world or for a woman in marriage, then his migration is for that which he migrated to.

The authenticity of this tradition is agreed upon. It has been collected by the two ‘Imams ofthe Muhaditheen’:

Abu ‘Abdullah Muhammad ibn Ismaa’eel ibn Ibraheem ibn al-Mugheerah ibn Bardazbah al-Ju’fee al-Bukhari , and Abu al-Husayn Muslim ibn al-Hajjaaj ibn Muslim al-Qushayree al-Naysaabooree. May Allah be pleased with them [and] in their Saheeh(s), for they are the most authentic books compiled.
Fawaid: Baaz riwayat mein is Hadees ka pas manzar yeh bayan kiya gaya hai ke ek shaks ne Umm Qais nami aurat ko nikah ka paigham bheja, us ne us waqt tak nikah karne se inkaar kar diya, jab tak woh Hijrat na kare. Chananche us ne us ki is shart ki wajah se Hijrat kar li aur wahan ja kar dono ka baham nikah ho gaya, chunanche Sahaba mein us ka naam hi Muhajir Umm Qais mashoor ho gaya.
Is Hadees ki buniyad par Ulama ka ittefaq hai ke aamal mein niyyat zaroori hai aur niyyat ke mutabiq hi ajr milega. Taham niyyat ka mahal Dil hai, yani Dil mein niyyat karna zaroori hai, zubaan se us ka izhar zaroori nahin. Balki yeh Bida’at hai, jis ka shariyat mein koi saboot nahin, jaise Namaaz padhte waqt Pak wa Hind mein zubaan se niyyat ke izhar ka aam riwaj hai. Doosri baat yeh maloom huyi ke har kaam ke liye ikhlaas zaroori hai, yani har nek amal mein sirf Allah ki riza pesh nazar ho. Agar kisi nek amal mein ikhlaas ki bajaye kisi aur jazbe ki aamijish ho jayegi toh indallah woh amal maqbool nahil hoga.
Commentary: According to some Ahadith, the reason for this Hadith is that a person sent a proposal of marriage to a woman named Umm Qais, which she turned down saying that he should have to emigrate to Al-Madinah for it. Accordingly, he did it for this specific purpose, and the two were married there. On account of this event, the man came to be known among the Companions as Muhajir Umm Qais.
On the basis of this Hadith, ‘Ulama’ are of the unanimous opinion that the real basis of one’s actions is Niyyah (intention) and everyone will be requited to his Niyyah. It is true that Niyyah is founded in one’s heart, that is to say, one has first to make up one’s mind for what he intends to do and he should not express it verbally. In fact, the latter is a Bid’ah (innovation in Religion) because no proof of it is found in Shariah.

The point which becomes evident from this hadith is that Ikhlaas (sincerity) is must for every action. In Other words, in every righteous deed, one should seek only the Pleasure of Allah; otherwise, it will not be accepted by Allah.
